On January 25th, Oneida Police Officer Kevin Marlow observed a grey Jeep traveling south on Alberta Street near Oneida Equipment Rental operating with no visible lights on the rear of the vehicle. Officer Marlow conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Oneida Equipment. As he approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, he observed a female, identified as Megan Barnett, sitting in the driver’s seat. Officer Marlow also observed Barnett having glassy, watery eyes and could smell a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage. A glass jar with a clear liquid, peaches, and a cinnamon stick inside was also observed. Two open Budweiser beers were also found behind the driver’s seat with one containing alcohol. Barnett admitted that the jar contained moonshine. She was administered the Field Sobriety Test in which she failed each test. Barnett was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Open Container Violation, and Violation of the Light Law. With consent, she was transported to the Scott County Ambulance Service for a blood draw. She was then transported to the Scott County Justice Center for booking.
