Sheriff’s Office Conducts Sex Offender Compliance Checks

Huntsville, TN (2017-06-15) The Scott County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sex offender compliance check operation on Thursday.  Of the nearly fifty checked, only one was found to be non-compliant.

According to Sheriff Ronnie Phillips, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office spent more than six hours on Thursday going across the county to check on sex offenders.  “We were making sure they were in compliance with registration requirements,” Phillips said.  Officers were matching sex offender registration addresses and making sure vehicle descriptions were up to date.

Of the 49 sex offenders checked-on, only one was found to be non-compliant.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Those participating in Thursday’s operation included:  Sheriff Phillips, Lt. Jason Pike, Chief Detective Randy Lewallen, Detective Abby Duncan, and deputies Marvin Buttram, Dusty Hayes, Tony Jones, Chris Russell and Dalton Walden.
