Huntsville, TN (2015-12-21) Interim Director Mary “Ginger” Reynolds has been named the new Director of Finance for Scott County. Reynolds was selected from a field of five candidates that applied for the job.
By a 6-1 vote Monday afternoon, the Scott County Finance Committee voted to hire Ginger Reynolds to the office of County Director of Finance. Reynolds will replace former Director Brian L. Strunk, who resigned last month to take a job in the private sector. She is a five-year employee of the office, having served much of her tenure in the role of Deputy Director.
Reynolds was chosen from a field of five local candidates, which included Town of Huntsville City Recorder Wendy Buttram, retired Sgt. Major Gary G. Cruz, Armstrong Purchasing Manager Timothy Hicks, and Ayers Real Estate Comptroller Daniel Storey.
On a roll call vote of the members, Reynolds received votes of affirmation from Mayor Dale Perdue, Road Superintendent Donald (Dick) Sexton, and County Commissioners Kenny Chadwell, June Jeffers, Ernest Phillips, and Mike Slaven. Director of Schools Bill Hall cast his vote for Storey; however, prior to the vote, Hall stated he would support whoever was the choice of the committee. “She’ll have the full support of not only my department but all departments,” Hall said.
Reynolds will assume her new role immediately.
