Solid Waste Board reverses decision to recommend promotion

Huntsville, TN (2015-10-07) The Scott County Solid Waste Board has reversed an earlier decision regarding its recommendation for a supervisor at the Scott County Recycling Center in Huntsville.  The recommendation will be forwarded to the Mayor, who may or may not agree with the Board’s decision.  Ultimately, the county legislative body will weigh in on the decision, as it must vote to amend the county budget to include funding for the position. Requirement to Advertise County Job Openings Illegal

Recycling Center staffing change proposal withdrawn

Huntsville, TN (2015-10-05) At the request of the Scott County Solid Waste Planning Board, a recommendation by Scott County Mayor Dale Perdue to promote an employee at the Scott County Recycling Center to a supervisory role and hire a part-time employee has been withdrawn from consideration.  The Solid Waste Board will meet on Wednesday afternoon to further discuss the proposal. County Commission to consider signing new contract for ambulance billing

Huntsville, TN (2015-10-05) Faced with dwindling revenues and the possibility of having to supplement its operations, the Scott County Commission learned Monday night its problems with the county ambulance service may not be associated with just cuts in reimbursement, but likely a combination of factors, including the poor performance of its billing company.  As a result of a recent acquisition of its former billing service, the County Commission will consider a new contract with the new company at its next meeting. Cemetery Visit Assistance Offered by Big South Fork

Oneida, TN (2015-10-05) The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will provide assistance on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17, for family members who wish to visit remote cemeteries and do minor clean-up of graves of their relatives.  This assistance will be provided to the park cemeteries that are not easy to access and located inside the park boundary.  Transportation from a designated area in the park to the cemetery will be provided only to those that are physically unable to walk round trip, based on a first-come, first-served basis.  The park is also planning on providing this opportunity next spring.
