Nashville, TN (2010-07-06) The Tennessee Department of Safety announced today that preliminary figures indicate nine people were killed in traffic crashes on Tennessee roadways during the 78-hour Fourth of July holiday period, which ran from 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2010 through 11:59 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2010.  A Helenwood woman fatally injured in a Monday morning accident on U.S. 27 was among those killed. Tenncare Receives Federal Approval For Hospital Assessment Fee

Nashville, TN (2010-07-01) TennCare announced today that federal officials have approved Tennessee’s proposal to draw federal matching dollars in association with a new hospital assessment fee.  As a result, TennCare will avoid benefit changes for enrollees and reductions in provider reimbursement rates that would have otherwise been required this year.  The assessment fee was approved by the General Assembly in May. THP Plans July 4th Weekend Crackdown on Drunk Drivers

Nashville, TN (2010-06-30) The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced today that State Troopers would be out in full force during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, cracking down on drunk drivers with an aggressive Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest enforcement blitz.  To ensure motorists are obeying the law, the THP will conduct sobriety and driver license checkpoints across the state in an effort to reduce fatalities and serious injury crashes.  The 2010 July 4th, 78-hour Holiday period begins at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2010 and will end at 11:59 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2010.  [ Read More ]
