18th Annual Storytelling Event Scheduled For September 18

Tibbals Elected County Mayor; Cross New Sheriff

Huntsville, TN (2010-08-05) Oneida Alderman Jeff Tibbals captured nearly 62% of the total vote to win the County Mayor’s race on Thursday, outpolling his nearest opponent nearly four to one.  Oneida Police Chief Mike Cross stave off five other opponents to become the next Sheriff of Scott County.  In all, six new members were seated on the Scott County Commission, along with one new member on both the Scott County and Oneida Special School District Boards of Education in Thursday’s County General and State Primary Election. Huntsville, TN (2010-08-02) On Friday, July 30, 2010, Karen Brown, State of Tennessee Regional Economic Development Specialist, informed Scott County Mayor Rick Keeton and Stacey Kidd, Interim Executive Director of the Scott County Chamber of Commerce and Executive Secretary of the Scott County Industrial Development Board, that Scott County had achieved certification under the state’s Three-Star Program for Excellence in Economic Development.
