Nashville, TN (2010-06-01) Preliminary figures from the Tennessee Department of Safety show seven people were killed in traffic crashes on Tennessee roadways during the 78-hour Memorial Day holiday period, including a Scott County woman.  A year ago, 16 people died on Tennessee highway, while 13 people were killed in 2008. County Schools Received Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Funding

Nashville, TN (2010-05-28) Governor Phil Bredesen and Education Commissioner Timothy Webb today announced 121 elementary schools have been chosen to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for the 2010-11 school year. The program allows students to newly experience fresh fruits and veggies in hopes their consumption will increase throughout their lives.  For the first time in the program’s history, all the Scott County School System’s primary schools received grant funds. Road Construction Won’t Delay Memorial Day Travelers

Nashville, TN (2010-05-26) Road construction won’t slow motorists down as they travel Tennessee’s highways this Memorial Day weekend.  The Tennessee Department of Transportation will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 28 through 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June1.  This will provide maximum roadway capacity for motorists expected to travel in the state this Memorial Day weekend.
