Yager Offers Students Opportunity to Learn About Government First-Handas Senate Page

Nashville, TN (2010-01-28) Local State Senator Ken Yager today invited local students in grades 6 – 12 in the 12th senatorial district to experience the legislature in action as a page in the State Senate.  Yager said page duties consist of anything from making copies, running errands within the Capitol building, to distributing legislative information to members of the General Assembly.  The student pages report to the Chief Clerk of the House and Senate. State Senate Approves Bill To Delay Law Requiring Purchase Of “PaperTrail” Voting Machines

Nashville, TN (2010-01-14) The Tennessee Senate approved legislation on the opening day of the 2010 session to delay a law until 2012 that would have required cash-strapped Tennessee counties to spend $30 million to replace their voting machines.  The bill to delay the law until 2012 was easily approved by a vote of 70 to 23 in the House of Representatives last year with bi-partisan sponsors and support.  [ Read More ]

Traffic Fatalities Decline Over Holiday Weekends
