THP Plans July 4th Weekend Crackdown on Drunk Drivers

Nashville, TN (2010-06-30) The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced today that State Troopers would be out in full force during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, cracking down on drunk drivers with an aggressive Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest enforcement blitz.  To ensure motorists are obeying the law, the THP will conduct sobriety and driver license checkpoints across the state in an effort to reduce fatalities and serious injury crashes.  The 2010 July 4th, 78-hour Holiday period begins at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2010 and will end at 11:59 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2010.  [ Read More ]

Energy Efficient School Grant For Oneida Special Schools

Nashville, TN (2010-06-23) State Senator Ken Yager (R-Harriman) and Representative Les Winningham (D-Oneida) announced today that the Oneida Special School District has been awarded $27,840 in grant incentive funds from Tennessee’s Energy Efficient Schools Initiative.  The funds will be used to install energy efficient lighting at the Oneida Middle and High Schools. May Unemployment Rate 10.4 Percent

Nashville, TN (2010-06-17) Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development James Neeley announced today Tennessee’s unemployment rate for May was 10.4 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from the April rate of 10.5 percent. The May 2009 rate was 10.7 percent. The national unemployment rate for May 2010 was 9.7 percent, down 0.2 percentage point from the April rate of 9.9 percent. [ Read More ]

Parks and Recreation Grants Available to Local Communities
