Dooleys Keynote Speakers At BGC Event

Oneida, TN (2011-11-16) Barbara Dooley, motivational speaker and mother of University of Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley, and her husband, legendary Georgia football coach Vince Dooley, will be the keynote speakers at a special evening at the Boys and Girls Club of Scott County on November 28, 2011.

The captivating duo of Barbara and Vince Dooley will share colorful, witty moving, inspirational, comical, and sometimes “sounds too unreal to be true” stories with special guests of the Boys and Girls Club of Scott County on Monday, November 28, 2011. “This is a rare opportunity to hear them together, as they help raise funds to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Scott County,” commented Hank Hill, newly appointed CPO of the local club.

In September, Barbara Dooley was scheduled to speak at the Boys & Girls Club of Scott County Hall of Fame Banquet, but complications from knee surgery prevented her from attending.  At that time she agreed to come at a later date and bring her husband, legendary Georgia football coach, Vince Dooley, with her.

A storyteller of unmatched proportions, Barbara Dooley can rivet a crowd with stories of her decades spent as a football coach's wife. Her tales of mischief and mayhem will leave the audience rolling with laughter and begging for more.  As a breast cancer survivor, her story is powerful, moving and motivating to others who are battling challenges.

As one of the winningest coaches in NCAA history, Vince Dooley has racked up a list of honors.  Two times, Coach Dooley was named NCAA National Coach of the Year (1980 and 1982) and seven times, he took home the honor of SEC Coach of the Year.  In 1980, Coach Dooley led the Dogs to the National Championship.  The Alabama native, who made Georgia his home in 1964, coached the Georgia Bulldogs to 201 victories during his 25 years as head coach and took Bulldog teams to 20 bowl games. For 15 years after his retirement from active coaching, he remained at Georgia as the school's Athletic Director.

Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.  The program will begin at 7:00 p.m.  A silent auction/Chinese auction will also be held.  Tickets are $5 for students, $25 for individuals and $50 per family.  Tickets may be purchased at the club, from any board member or at the door.  Persons who bought tickets to the Hall of Fame Banquet will be admitted free.
