Shinkle Named Chief
Of Winfield Fire Department
Winfield, TN (2011-11-11) Longtime
firefighter Adam Shinkle has been named the new Chief
of the Winfield Fire Department.
On
Tuesday, November 8, 2011, the Town of Winfield
Mayor and Board of Aldermen affirmed the consensus of
the members of the Winfield Fire Department, voting 4-0 with Alderman Harold
Chambers absent, to appoint Adam Shinkle Chief of the
Town’s volunteer fire department. Shinkle, who has been a previous officer of the department,
will assume his new duties immediately.
In addition to being on the fire department, Shinkle
is also an employee of the Town. As a
member of the street department, he will be readily available for daytime
emergency calls, when the majority of the department’s volunteers are
out-of-town working or otherwise unavailable.
In
other business last Tuesday, the Town approved the addition of Michael Newman
to the fire department. Newman, stated Shinkle, would
have to undergo training prior to earning a full fledged position in the
department. The Board also voted to pave
several sections of roadway that had been cut over the course of the summer to
replace drainage tiles. According to
Vice Mayor Kelvin King, the asphalt jobs should cost the Town between $6,000
and $7,000.
