RSCC Offering Free Course Through Local Employers

(2011-08-12) Roane State Community College’s
Scott County Center
for Higher Education is offering a scholarship that gives local businesses a
chance to let one employee take a college class for free.
According
to Sharon Baird, Director of the Scott County Campus of Roane State
Community College,
employees of local businesses are eligible to apply for one of twenty
scholarships to take one course at the local community college for free.
To qualify for the scholarships,
applicants must be first-time students, complete the admissions process, take a
course offered at the Scott
County campus, and submit
a letter of recommendation from their employer.
Scholarships are limited to one per business. The scholarship will cover tuition and books
for one course. Deadline to apply is
Monday, August 22, 2011
“The Scott County campus offers
courses in paralegal, computer applications and other subjects that would be of
interest to employees and make them more valuable to their businesses,” said
Baird. “Don’t miss the opportunity to take any class that you want at no charge,”
she added.
The scholarships are funded by the
Earl McDonald Scholarship Endowment.
