RSCC Offering Free Course Through Local Employers

Huntsville, TN (2011-08-12) Roane State Community College’s Scott County Center for Higher Education is offering a scholarship that gives local businesses a chance to let one employee take a college class for free.

According to Sharon Baird, Director of the Scott County Campus of Roane State Community College, employees of local businesses are eligible to apply for one of twenty scholarships to take one course at the local community college for free.

To qualify for the scholarships, applicants must be first-time students, complete the admissions process, take a course offered at the Scott County campus, and submit a letter of recommendation from their employer.  Scholarships are limited to one per business.  The scholarship will cover tuition and books for one course.  Deadline to apply is Monday, August 22, 2011

“The Scott County campus offers courses in paralegal, computer applications and other subjects that would be of interest to employees and make them more valuable to their businesses,” said Baird. “Don’t miss the opportunity to take any class that you want at no charge,” she added.

The scholarships are funded by the Earl McDonald Scholarship Endowment.
