Oneida Man Arrested For Growing Pot

 

            Oneida, TN (2011-06-28) An Oneida man faces drug related charges after allegedly being caught growing marijuana on his front porch.

            James (Jimmy) West, 26, of Oneida was arrested last Friday (6/24) after authorities allegedly found sixteen marijuana plants growing in flower pots on his porch.  According to an arrest warrant filed by Officer Gerry “Greasey” Garrett of the Oneida Police Department, he, along with Detectives Randy Lewallen and Tommy Silcox of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, went to West’s home on Fred Hill Street to recover some stolen items.  Upon arrival, officers allegedly observed the plants growing in pots near the suspect’s door.  After questioning, West allegedly admitted to possessing the plants and reportedly began pulling the plants out of the soil by their roots.  Authorities immediately stopped him from destroying the evidence and arrested him.

            West was charged with cultivation of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
