According to an arrest warrant filed by Blake Murphy of the Oneida Police Department, Grubb allegedly went into several area businesses and purchased one or more items in each business valued at approximately $1. Grubb allegedly paid for his purchases with a $50 bill, but, after the transaction, purported to the clerk his change was incorrect. In four out of five transactions, Grubb received additional money from the clerk, who felt he or she had made an error.
Grubb, who was arrested following a traffic stop, was charged with theft of less than $500 (four counts), along with driving without a license and violation of the financial responsibility law. Grubb was booked into the Scott County Jail and held under a $20,000 bond.
