Heath’s Artwork To Adorn Clean-Up Shirts

 

            Huntsville, TN (201-04-20) The artwork of an Oneida Middle School student will be prominently displayed on the official 2011 Vivian Smith – Scott County Looks Good To Me tee shirt.

            According to Shonda Crabtree, coordinator of the annual Vivian Smith – Scott County Looks Good To Me countywide clean up, the artwork of Megan Heath, a fifth grade student at Oneida Middle School, has been chosen from dozens of entries from across the county to be the official image of the 2011 campaign.  Heath’s picture depicts a turtle with a frog on is back, both placing litter into a trash can.  For her artwork, Heath will receive a $50 check.

            Other art winners included:  Burchfield – Riana Spradlin, Jeffrey Muse, and Jacob King; FairviewDilan Adkins; Huntsville – Grace Sexton; Oneida -- Tiffany Byrd

Caleb Cathey, Dylan Chitwood, and Luther Ellis; Robbins -- Allie Cross, and Lily Cross; and Scott High School – Hannah Hutchison.

            Winners of the college scholarship essay contest were Shay Anderson at Scott High School and Courtney Duncan at Oneida High School.  Each year, the Scott County Litter Grant program awards one $500 scholarship to a senior at both Oneida and Scott High School.  Students must write a 500-essay to be eligible for the endowment.

            In addition to the art and essay winners, a host of school and civic organizations also received cash prizes for their participating in last Saturday’s event.  The Beta Club and Builders Club at Robbins Elementary earned $100 each for having 10 or more participants in the clean up effort.  The Builders Club at Burchfield Elementary likewise received $100.  In addition, Robbins Elementary School received $200 for having a large number of participants in the annual event.

            Boy Scout Troop #93 also received $100 each for participating.
