Search Continues For Missing KY
Fisherman
Yamacraw, KY
(2011-04-16) Rescuers are still searching for a Kentucky
man that went missing when his boat capsized on the waters of the Big South
Fork of the Cumberland River on Wednesday.
Tim
Godfrey, 29, of Kentucky, along with a two
companions, was reportedly attempting to navigate the waters of the Big South
Fork two miles downstream from the Yamacraw
Bridge on SR 92 in Kentucky around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday
afternoon, when the trio’s canoe capsized in swift moving waters. Godfrey’s friends reportedly made it to
shore; however, he has not been seen since the mishap.
“Efforts
are currently being hampered by flood conditions, created by heavy rain over
the area Friday night and early Saturday morning,” commented Ranger Howard
Duncan. Despite the hazards, rescuers
continue their search. “Due to use by emergency vehicles and watercraft, the
Alum Ford Boat Ramp may be closed for periods of time while emergency operations
are being conducted,” Duncan
added.
