Medic Donors Eligible To Win A Trip For Two To Memphis

 

Knoxville, TN (2011-03-30) Medic Regional Blood Center will give away a trip for two to Memphis In May’s World Championship BBQ Cook-Off and overnight accommodations at the Hampton Inn at Beale Street to one lucky donor!  It’s easy to enter to win, simply stop by any blood drive location now through April 20, 2011 for your chance to register to win.  The lucky winner will be drawn on April 21, 2011 and the tickets and hotel stay are for Saturday, May 13, 2011.

            “Medic currently has a critical need for all blood types, especially O Positive and O Negative blood types,” states Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokesperson.  Donors can stop by one of two donor centers, 1601 Ailor Avenue or 11000 Kingston Pike/Farragut behind Pittsburgh Paints.  Locally, donors may also give blood on:  1) April 6, 2011 at Oneida High School, 372 North Main Street between the hours of 9am and 2pm; and 2) April 15, 2011 at Scott High School between the hours of 8am and 2pm.

            All donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more (16 year-olds, weigh 120 pounds or more can donate but must have parental consent) and all donors must have positive identification. 

            Some of Medic’s eligibility requirements have changed and those who have been deferred in the past may now be eligible to give.  For example, diabetics are now eligible when in the past a doctor’s note has been required.  Medic encourages donors to please call if there are questions regarding who can and cannot donate blood. 

            Medic is the sole provider of 21 counties and 27 area hospitals in the greater East Tennessee area.
