Winfield Man Booked On Burglary Charges

Winfield, TN (2001-02-11) Perseverance paid off for the Winfield Police Department, as a Winfield resident originally charged with burglarizing a garage in the community last year is behind bars.

Bill Casey Minor, 28, of Winfield was arrested last week by the Winfield Police Department after authorities learned he was back in town.  Minor, who reportedly had been living out of the state, was picked up on outstanding warrants for burglary and theft.

In August 2010, authorities charged Minor in connection with a pair of burglaries at a work shop in the Winfield community.  In the arrest warrant, Investigator Jerry (Brad) Lay alleges Minor was observed on video surveillance footage entering on the building taking a small motorcycle and a socket set.

The investigation into the break in began when Lay observed Minor riding the motorcycle, a tiny TT-R50.  The suspect, stated the warrant, parked the motorcycle behind a Winfield bar.  As Lay entered the parking lot of the tavern, Minor reportedly walked around the building.  After seeing Lay, Minor allegedly bolted and ran.

After running the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the motorcycle, authorities learned the identity of the registered owner; a person Lay recognized had been the victim of a break-in earlier in the week.  After contacting the victim, authorities went to his garage and found the motorcycle and a socket set missing.  Three days earlier, the victim and his partner had had several other items taken, including power tools, air impact wrenches and cash.  Since the perpetrator gain entry into the structure in the same manner, authorities questioned Minor about the earlier burglary.  Minor, stated the warrant, admitted to the earlier crime.

Authorities charged Minor with two counts of burglary, theft of over $1000 and theft over $500.

Minor is currently being held in the Scott County Jail without bond on burglary charges and violation of his state probation.
