Fire Destroys Oneida Home
A three-alarm
blaze inside a historic single story family home at
The blaze, which was first reported at 5:51 a.m., kept firefighters busy for more than 40 minutes, as they fought to suppressed the fire and protect other residential structures nearby. The home, which was reportedly originally built in the 1920s, had been extensive remodeled through the years, which made it difficult for firefighters to get to the source of the flames. While most of the flames were contained by 7:00 a.m., firefighters spent the rest of the morning at the house working on dousing hot spots and flare ups.
The owner, identified as Marshall Crabtree, was not at home at the time of the blaze. No injuries were reported.
The Oneida Fire Department was first on the scene, but immediately requested and received manpower and equipment from the Mid-County and Winfield Fire Departments.
