On February 4th, Oneida Police Officer Chad Jones was dispatched to W.J. Jeffers Road for a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, Officer Jones found a single vehicle that had hit a utility pole and broke it in two. The driver, identified as Eric Blanton, was already in the ambulance being checked by medics. Blanton refused treatment stating “he wasn’t hurt.” Officer Jones observed an odor of what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage coming from Stanton’s person. Stanton, on his own free will, stated “he drank four beers.” Officer Jones asked Stanton to perform the field sobriety test in which he agreed to and failed the test. Officer Jones read Stanton the Implied Consent and he refused. Stanton was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Violation of Implied Consent. He was transported to the Scott County Justice Center for booking.
