JoAnn Shoemaker, age 89, departed this life on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, after a short illness. She was born in Robbins, Tennessee, on July 4, 1930 to the late George W. Boles, Sr., and Audrey Goad Boles.
JoAnn was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Robbins, having been its oldest member. In addition, she served as church clerk, Sunday School teacher and organist for over half a century.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Shoemaker; brothers, George W. Boles, Jr., John C. Boles; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pharo and Mabel Shoemaker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vida (Russell) Walker, Thelma Shoemaker, Roy Branim, Charles Shoemaker, Harold (Vonnell) Shoemaker, Donna Bowling and Ted Crabtree.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Velta) Shoemaker; (2) grandsons, Ethan (Sherry) Shoemaker, Jeremy (Megan) Shoemaker; (5) great grandchildren, Hunter, Shiloh, Shayla, Kennedy, and Caden; brother, William H. (Betty) Boles, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Sue Boles, Shirley Boles, Reba Branim, Doris Shoemaker, Ruth (Esau, Jr.) Burchfield, Margaret Crabtree, Patty Lynch; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Janet) Shoemaker, Marty (Brenda) Shoemaker; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 P.M. until time of funeral service at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, September 4, 2019 in the Chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in Oneida with Bro. Mike Smithers officiating. Music will be provided by First Baptist Church Choir. Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday morning, September 5, 2019, at the Hawn Shoemaker Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Ethan Shoemaker, Jeremy Shoemaker, Hunter Shoemaker, Caden Shoemaker, Howard Boles, Jr., Terry Boles, George Boles, III, and Darrell Boles.
