On July 30th, Officer Tyler Johnson, with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, was dispatched to West Monticello Pike in Helenwood for a drunk driver trying to leave a residence. Upon arrival, Officer Johnson found a male, identified as Matthew Tolison, outside with the victim. Tolison threw up his hand and attempted to walk inside the residence when Officer Johnson asked him to step outside and speak with him. Tolison stated he had been arguing with the victim and he had packed his things and was going to leave. An odor of alcohol was observed emitting from Tolison’s person and he stated he had a few beers. Officer Johnson spoke with the victim and she stated Tolison got mad because she was putting her foot down about him taking her vehicle because he is a convicted habitual motor vehicle offender and he is always drinking and driving and won’t help pay for gas back and forth to his work at Shoney’s in Caryville where she had drive him to and pick him up everyday. She stated he had been throwing things around in the home and used his body to trap her against the wall and took her cell phone in fear that she was going to call the law on him. The victim also stated she was afraid of him and for her young daughter that lived in the home. Tolison was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault (Simple) and Interference with 911 Calls. He was transported to the Scott County Justice Center for booking.
