On May 27th, Sgt. David Stephens with the Oneida Police Department responded to Wal-mart in reference to a detained shoplifter. Wal-Mart assistant manager stated that Brian Garrett selected a flat iron from the shelf and conceal the merchandise into his clothing, then exit the business failing to pay. Garrett removed the merchandise from his clothing and admitted to the theft. The value of the merchandise was $79.96 and was recovered by Wal-Mart. Garrett did select, conceal and fail to pay for property that belonged to Wal-Mart, with the intention of depriving the owner of said property. He was charged with Shoplifting (Theft Under $1,000).
