Trail Run with a Ranger: The Point Trail, December 8

Wartburg, TN (2018-12-05)  The Obed Wild and Scenic River will be conducting a trail run on Saturday, December 8, at 1:00 p.m. (ET).  Runners of all levels are welcome to join Ranger Rick Ryan for a run that loops around the Lilly Bluff area and enters the back side of the Point Trail heading to Lilly Arch before returning via the Point Trail for a round-trip total of 5.5 miles.  If you like to run with others and enjoy trail running in a woodland setting, then this run is for you.

The trail culminates on an exposed ridge that offers panoramic views above the gorges of the Obed River and Clear Creek.  A hidden gem is found near the end of the trail: the Lilly Arch rising almost 50 feet from its base to its top.  With the distant sounds of rushing water resonating off the canyon walls, this run will be a nice way to enjoy the crisp conditions of the winter season.

Participants should meet at the Lilly Overlook parking area.  The parking area is located a quarter-mile after crossing the Lilly Bridge on Ridge Road in Morgan County, Tennessee.   Please wear weather appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks.  Participants should expect to spend 1-2 hours for this trail run.  For more information, please contact the visitor center at (423) 346-6294.
