Attempted Vehicle Theft Lands Pioneer Man in Jail

Oneida, TN (2018-11-27) A Pioneer man that allegedly attempted to steal a truck from an employee parking lot at a local business is behind bars.

Michael Miller, 34, of Pioneer was booked into the Scott County Jail last week after authorities say he attempted to boost a truck from the parking lot of an Oneida business.  According to an arrest warrant filed by Patrolman Chad Jones of the Oneida Police Department, Miller allegedly climbed into a pickup truck parked next to Phillips Dry Cleaners in Oneida last Monday morning and attempted to drive off with the vehicle.  Authorities say that a witness inside the business saw Miller walk across the street from B and B Metals, and then walk over to where the truck was parked.  The witness says Miller climbed into the driver’s seat, started the truck, and put the vehicle into drive.  That’s when authorities say the witness stepped in front of the vehicle and demanded that Miller get out.

Miller reportedly complied and got out of the vehicle.  Authorities say Miller began walking south along Alberta Street, and entered a nearby business.  Miller was later found and arrested inside Shaffer and Shaffer Welding Supplies.

Miller was charged with attempted theft of over $10,000.
