Robbins Couple Accused of Taking Elderly Woman’s Medication

Huntsville, TN (2018-10-26) A Robbins couple is facing theft and drug possession charges after authorities say they took an elderly woman’s pain medication.

John W. Buttram, 35, and Angela L. Hughett, 29, both of Robbins were both detained early Friday morning following an investigation into stolen narcotics from an Oneida residence.  According to Deputy Casey Geisler of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the pair was allegedly involved in the taking of Hydrocodone from a 72-year-old victim’s home on Butler Lane.

Authorities say the pair was visiting the victim Thursday afternoon, when she became ill.  Hughett reportedly followed the victim to the bathroom.  Shortly thereafter, the victim told authorities Buttram yelled to Hughett they had to leave.  “We have to go now.  Dad’s sick,” he reportedly exclaimed.  The pair reportedly left the home, leaving the victim in the bathroom.  When the victim came out, she reportedly discovered her medication missing.

The victim reportedly attempted to contact the pair, but they didn’t answer.  She then called the cops around 8:00 p.m.

Authorities reportedly found the couple at Buttram’s residence on J.B. Newport Lane in Robbins.  The pair was charged with theft of more than $1,000 and possession of a schedule II-controlled substance.
