Oneida, TN (2018-09-23) Join Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area for our second program in a series of “Safety Saturday Talks”. Join Ranger Rick Ryan from Obed Wild and Scenic River on September 29 at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on the porch of the Interpretation and Education Building located beside the Bandy Creek Visitor Center for an informative talk on rock climbing basics. This program will focus on the basics of how to get started in climbing safely but will not be an “on the wall” climbing session. Topics will include the various types of climbing, the equipment needed to get started, safety considerations, health and wellness benefits, and opportunities to experience climbing in your local national parks. If you have ever been curious about rock climbing, want to get started, or just want to improve your technique, then this “Safety Saturday Talk” is just right for you!
