One Dead Following Traffic Accident on Paint Rock Road

Oneida, TN (2018-09-18) One person is dead following a traffic accident on Paint Rock Road in Oneida early Tuesday morning.

Roger M. Jeffers, 46, of Oneida was reportedly found unresponsive behind the wheel of his pickup truck following a traffic crash on State Route 456 (Paint Rock Road) just inside the Oneida City limits around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.  According to authorities, Jeffers may have suffered some type of medical emergency, which may had led to the crash and his death.

Authorities say that Jeffers was reportedly traveling westbound on Paint Rock Road just outside the Oneida City limits when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle entering a curve and went into the ditch on the westbound side of the highway.  Jeffers’ 1997 Chevy 1500 pickup then reportedly reentered the roadway and careered across the highway and plunged over an embankment and into a marshy field.  The vehicle reportedly didn’t roll over or sustained significant damage in the crash.

When authorities arrived, Jeffers was reportedly unresponsive and was deemed deceased on the scene.

The accident was investigated by Agent Bill Miller of the Oneida Police Department with the assistance of Chief Darryl Laxton.  The Scott County Ambulance Service and crews from the Paint Rock and Pine Hill Fire Departments also responded.
