Shotgun found in convicted felon’s trunk

Oneida, TN (2018-06-18) A convicted felon is facing weapons charges after authorities reportedly found a shotgun in the trunk of his car.

Billy R. Lewallen

Billy R. Lewallen, 38, of Oneida was jailed last week following a traffic stop in Oneida.  According to an arrest warrant written by Brett Bond of the Oneida Police Department, Lewallen initially caught his attention for speeding on Buffalo Road, and then, was stopped on Perry Lane because the license plate on his vehicle was expired and registered to another vehicle.   Authorities say that Lewallen’s license was revoked, and he didn’t have insurance on the vehicle.

In addition to those traffic violations, authorities say that Lewallen, who is a convicted felon, admitted to having a 12-gauge shotgun in the truck.

Lewallen was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, driving on revoked license, violation of the registration law, and violation of the financial responsibility law.
