Oneida, TN (2018-06-11) An Oneida man that was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road is facing DUI and underage drinking charges. Authorities say the suspect failed to maintain his lane while negotiating a curve and crossed over into the path of his arresting officer.
Joshua W. Roden, 19, of Oneida was booked into the Scott County Jail last week after authorities say he was driving drunk on the wrong side of the road. According to an arrest warrant written by Agent Bill Miller of the Oneida Police Department, Roden was allegedly on the wrong side of the road as he negotiated a curve on Stanley Street in Oneida. Miller said that Roden failed to maintain his lane and ended up on wrong the side of the road in front of him as he attempted to negotiate the curve.
Roden, along with a passenger in his vehicle, identified as Christopher K. Bowling, 19, of Helenwood, both reportedly performed poorly on a battery of field sobriety tests. Authorities say they found several cold beer bottles, including two that were open, and two, six-packs of the same kind of beer in the vehicle. A marijuana bud shredder was also on the items reportedly taken from the vehicle.
Roden was charged with DUI, underage consumption, illegal possession of alcohol, violation of the open container law, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, and violation of the financial responsibility law. Bowling was charged with public intoxication, underage consumption, and violation of the open container law.
