Robbins, TN (2018-04-17) One man was killed and another uninjured in a horrific head-on collision on U.S. 27 in Robbins Monday afternoon. The survivor has been charged with misdemeanor traffic violations.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Roger D. Crowley, 71, of Jamestown, TN was killed in the two-vehicle traffic crash which occurred shortly after three o’clock Monday afternoon on Scott Highway just south of old Highway 27 near the Mountain View community in Robbins. According to a report filed by Trooper M. Human, Crowley was the sole occupant of a northbound 1999 Chevy Blazer that was struck head-on by a southbound 2001 GMC Sierra pickup. The driver of the pickup, identified as Harold G. Young, 76, of Robbins, allegedly left his lane of traffic, crossed the center line, and struck Crowley’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.
Crowley died in the crash. Young was uninjured. Both were reportedly wearing their seat belt; however, Trooper Human noted that Crowley was not wearing his properly.
No criminal charges were filed in the case; however, Young was cited for failure to maintain lane and for not exercising due care.
