Reading Ranger Hike to Princess Falls – October 21

Oneida, TN (2017-10-15)  Join park rangers and librarians from the McCreary County Public Library for a fun children’s story time about autumn on Saturday, October 21.  We will meet at the Yamacraw day use parking lot under the Highway 92 bridge at 10:30 a.m. (ET).  The hike to Princess Falls is 1.2 miles over flat terrain.  Once we arrive, we will cross the creek below the falls and have story time at the picnic area before heading back to the Yamacraw Bridge.  This round trip hike will cover 2.4 total miles along the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail.

Families can also meet at the McCreary County Library at 10 a.m. and follow staff to the Yamacraw Trailhead.  Please bring water and wear weather and hike appropriate clothing and footwear.

This is a great opportunity to work towards your Big South Fork Junior Ranger badge as well as this year’s GO BIG patch.  The Go Big 2017 Challenge is a year-long, self-paced, park-wide event created to encourage you to go out and explore YOUR park.  For more information, go to https://www.nps.gov/biso/planyourvisit/go-big-2017-challenge.htm.
