Oneida, TN (2017-09-11) An Oneida man that had remained on the loose since allegedly threatening to cut his girlfriend’s throat and throw her out of the car was arrested last week by Oneida authorities.
Justin L. Powell, 28, of Oneida was booked into the Scott County Jail last Monday, after authorities located him following an August altercation between him and the mother of his child. According to an arrest warrant filed by Agent Bill Miller of the Oneida Police Department, Powell allegedly held his girlfriend against her will and threatened her with a knife on August 6, 2017. During the altercation, Powell allegedly told the victim he would “slit her from ear to ear if she tried to take their daughter away from him”. After the threat, the victim reportedly attempted to get out of the car at an undisclosed gas station, but Powell again threatened her. He also allegedly told the victim he would push her out of the car.
After the argument, the victim reportedly filed a temporary order of protection against Powell. He would later flee on foot from the vehicle near the Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Oneida.
Authorities caught up with Powell on September 4, 2017. He was booked into the Scott County Jail on charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault.
He remains in the jail under a $20,000 bond.
