Winfield Man Indicted in Child Pornography Investigation

Knoxville, TN (2017-08-22) An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a Winfield man on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.

James L. Shoemaker

James Logan Shoemaker, 24, of Winfield was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Scott County Jail following a nearly two-year investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation into his alleged sharing of child pornography.  Authorities say he was the person responsible for images shared online.

The investigation into the allegation began in December 2015, when 8th Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler requested the TBI look into information obtained from the Harriman Police Department that someone in the area was sharing images on the internet containing child pornography.

On Tuesday, a Scott County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Shoemaker with one count of Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Shoemaker is being held on a $25,000 bond.
