Nashville, TN (2017-08-08) Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell (R-Nashville)  has reappointed  State Representative Kelly Keisling (R–Byrdstown)  to the Access TN Health Insurance Pool Board of Directors.  Keisling has served as a board member since 2013.

“Representative Keisling has been a tremendous asset to the Access TN Health Insurance Pool Board of Directors, as well as his colleagues in the House chamber during his time serving in Nashville,” said Speaker Harwell. “I appreciate his passion and dedication to this important issue, and I thank him for his willingness to serve,” she added.

The Access Tennessee Health Insurance program provides comprehensive health insurance to uninsurable Tennessee residents with pre-existing conditions who have been declined coverage, rated up, or issued exclusions on certain benefits by a Tennessee health insurance company. In order to qualify, residents must be uninsured for three months prior to application and have proof of their pre-existing conditions.

The Access TN Health Insurance Pool Board of Directors is comprised of 14 members. The group is tasked with creating and submitting a funding and operational plan for the Access TN Health Insurance program to the commissioner and the comptroller of the treasury in order to ensure that the program is being administered efficiently and that it is financially solvent.

“It is a great honor to be reappointed to the Access TN Health Insurance Pool Board by Speaker Harwell,” said Representative Keisling. “Health care is such an important issue in our state and our nation; our work will continue to ensure that residents throughout Tennessee who do not have access to health insurance are able to find coverage that they can rely on,” he added.
