Huntsville, TN (2017-04-20) Due to predicted inclement weather on Saturday, the annual Vivian Smith Countywide Clean Up has been postponed. The litter collection and awareness event will now be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
According to Solid Waste Coordinator Mary Ann Perdue, the possibility of inclement weather has forced the postponement of the annual countywide clean up. “The National Weather Service is predicting rainy weather, including the possibility of storms,” Perdue said. Although the rain forced the cancellation of Saturday’s event, organizers have already announced it will be held next weekend.
“We’re postponing the cleanup until April 29th,” Perdue said.
Events next weekend will be the same as originally planned, with cleanup efforts beginning at 9:00 a.m. and going to 12:00 p.m. A cookout for participants will follow at the Scott County Office Building. Registration for volunteers will held in all districts of the county. Sign up sites will include: Fairview Elementary, Robbins Elementary, Scott County Office Building, Helenwood Baptist Church, Pine Hill Fire Department, Winfield City Hall, Oneida High School, and Burchfield Elementary. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m.
