GO BIG 2017 Healthy Hike: Fall Branch Waterfall and John Litton Farm, March 18

Get ready to “GO BIG” in 2017 as you explore, experience, and connect with the park in your backyard!  In preparation for the “GO BIG 2017” Challenge, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be conducting a healthy hike along the John Litton Farm Loop trail on Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m. (ET). Join Ranger Mary Grimm at the Bandy Creek swimming pool parking lot for a moderate 4.4 mile hike to the Fall Branch Waterfall.  Discover the beauty of Fall Branch Waterfall which flows 10 feet from a deeply undercut rock shelf.  Hikers will have the option to continue their journey to the John Litton Farm and complete the 6.3 mile loop, or return back to their car the way they came in.  Don’t miss this opportunity to feel the isolation of the early settlers who inhabited the hollows and creek valleys of the Big South Fork.  Please wear weather appropriate clothing.  Bring water, snacks, and lunch to enjoy at the farmstead.
