Mr. Cosby Sexton, age 92 of Pioneer, TN, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 at his home. Born August 16, 1924, he was the son of Garfield and Lilly West Sexton. He worked as a miner; was a member of the Annadale Baptist Church for many years, and was a WWII Veteran of the United States Navy who lacked only a few miles floating all the way around the world before getting orders that turned the ship to go back in the other direction. Cosby was the kind of person that would help anyone he could.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Pauline Laxton Sexton; sons: Lonnie and Alan Sexton; grandchildren: Tracy Boshears and James Keith Sexton; great grandchildren: A. J. Jeffers, Kenneth Isaac Bradley, Shenna Ann Nelson, and a few angel babies; sisters: Dessie Ellis, Ruth Terry and Velma Hutson; brothers: Chester, Glen and William Ray Sexton.
He is survived by his children: Jack and wife Chris, Coline West and husband Steve, Debra Chambers, Troy Sexton, Lloyd Sexton, Shirley Ellis, Boyd Sexton and wife Janette, Joyce Harness and husband Chester; grandchildren: Sonny Sexton, Toni Chalender, Jackie Estep, Robbie and Joe Sexton, Kevin (Sexton) Lowe, John Allred, Gail Harness, Zack Allred, Taisa Wagner, Steven West, Christina Asberry, Jamie Kennedy, Patricia Bush, Susan Chambers, Anthony Sexton, Lisa Jo Stephens, J. C. Sexton, Matthew Sexton, Jennifer Sexton, Adam Hollers, Josh Hollers, Jason Burton, Tony Sexton, Michael Sexton, Pamela Jeffers, Dillon Harness and Ken Harness; brother: Delmer Sexton; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. He was loved and will be missed by many.
Graveside service will be held on October 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Laxton Cemetery with Bro. Larry Ellis officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Matthew and Anthony Sexton, Zack and John Allred and Dillon and Ken Harness. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Toni Sexton, Gregg Botts and Rick Manning.
