Cemetery Visit Assistance Offered by Big South Fork

Oneida, TN (2016-04-25) The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will provide assistance on Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, for family members who wish to visit remote cemeteries and do minor clean-up of graves of their relatives.  This assistance will be provided to the park cemeteries that are not easy to access and are located inside the park boundary.  Transportation from a designated area in the park to the cemetery will be provided only to those that are physically unable to walk round trip, based on a first-come, first-served basis.  The park is also planning on providing this service sometime in the fall when the weather is cooler. Tourism to Big South Fork Creates $20.5M in Economic Benefits

Oneida, TN (2016-04-25) A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 650,000 visitors to Big South Fork in 2015 spent $19 million in communities near the park.  That spending supported more than 260 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $20,500,000. County Jobless Rate Down to 6.8% in March

Nashville, TN (2016-04-21) For the third consecutive month, the jobless rate in Scott County went down, as the employment picture continued to improve.  Since December, the unemployment rate has declined 2.5% and the number of jobless claims decreased by 190 over the first quarter.  While the unemployment rate continued its downward spiral, the effect of recent layoffs at Pioneer Community Hospital has yet to impact the statistic.
